Acceptance is not the same as giving up

It can seem like it’s the same thing… it can even look the same. But it’s not. Acceptance is defined as a “willingness to tolerate a difficult or unpleasant situation” which is a far cry from giving up. Acceptance is much more active than its passive counterpart of giving up.

Learning how to accept a situation or set of circumstances with willingness, is taking a chance to do something about it… to learn… to grow. Giving up is just that: it’s giving up.

The differentiator between the two is willingness. The question is what will we choose?
