Get off the carousel

Sometimes you’re on a carousel. It’s fun at first but after years of going round and round it can start to feel like it’s the same thing over and over.

Sometimes we do the same work, over and over. Actual change gets pushed off to later, the important and thoughtful work gets delayed, all sacrificed in the name of “getting things done.”

But it’s time to either turn the carousel into a roller coaster or just get off the ride all together. What’s interesting is how many people are content and even prefer going around one more time. It’s familiar. It’s safe. It’s the same.

Eventually technology and culture will catch up to this method and a moment of decision will arise. We can either choose to go on the journey with our full intentions and engagement or we can wait until it’s imposed upon us against our will.  Whether it’s our families, friendships or our work… The ride is changing no matter what. So it would be best to decide which side we want to be on.
