Stay at the table

Picture a large table. In the middle of a grassy area which is in the middle of a city. Someone sits down to eat; another joins, then another, then another.

I wonder if we could have the courage to come to a table filled with anyone and everyone? All races, backgrounds, languages, beliefs and thought processes. To eat and be together. Then, I wonder if we could have the courage to stay at the table? Even if someone looked different, spoke different, or maybe even said something offensive.

We have to be the ones that welcome others and then be the ones who will stay no matter what. Not many will sit down at a table like that. Even fewer will create the table and welcome others. Fewest of all will stay at the table when things get tough.
